Socky Trend..Tricky Trend

With leggings finally dying a death, there are now some great ways to clad your legs this season according to handbag.com.

Miuccia Prada came up with the most novel... footless socks! Winter pedicures all round then, ladies.

The footless socks come in gorgeous colours, lilac and black, camel and blue or egg-yolk yellow and purple. They are almost like football socks, and will brighten up a grey dress in a jiffy. Bright block colours will give a new-season slant to any outfit.

Be brave, be bold - just watch out for frostbite in your toes... I wonder if this trend will reach here (philippines), we can't have frostbites because of the warm weather but we can use socks during rainy season. One thing is for sure, socks will give warmth for the cold and gloomy weather.

Bring A New Color To Your Shoes With NDEUR

Matthieu Missiaen, a 25-year-old Toronto-based graffitist, may have the one-of-a-kind provisions you've been looking for.

His label Nduer consists of soaring pumps to old-school high-tops and are fashioned using a canvas of vintage leather footwear, on which he doodles street-art-inspired scenes with oil-based paints.

The effect is fresh - a stylistic palate cleanser after the bland taste of your same-old, overpriced, black pumps.

Milan Fashion Week: Bottega Veneta

For its Spring 2008 collection Bottega Veneta, owned by the Gucci Group, uses traditional Italian leather craftsmanship to bring twists to a classic look. The elegant models walked down the catwalk in high heels in the brand’s trademark cone-shaped interwoven leather and supporting the signature Bottega Veneta bags. With a focus on silhouette, the color palette ranged from chocolate brown, lemon, palomino blonde, gold and silver to butter and marble colors.

Milan Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum

Christopher Bailey’s Spring 2008 presented during Milan Fashion Week, which is called Luxury Warriors, displayed military embellishments in the form of metal, mesh, and braiding. The typical trademark squares were few and emphasis was made on outerwear with a wide variety of belted trench coats. The majority of the pieces were made in silk chiffon, bonded taffeta and scuba satin in pale and faded colors of grey and rose. Very English!

Milan Fashion Week: Just Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli’s collection for H&M is set to debut this coming November, but that didn’t stop him from showing his one-of-a-kind Spring 2008 collection of his Just Cavalli line, during the Milan Fashion Week. The collection, named “La Mia Africa”, was inspired by African art and incorporates ethnic, exotic and urban looks. Bright colors such as fuchsia, aqua, yellow and red along with bold geometric patterns created a very modern tribal look. The pieces also incorporate elements of ceremonial dress including fringes, patchwork and leather.

Milan Fashion Week: Giorgio Armani

Giorgio Armani took the audience at sea while presenting his Spring 2008 collection during the Milan Fashion Week. To a backing track of typical southern Italian songs and a hint of North African drumbeats, the pieces presented evoked the laid-back mood of Southern Italy. The majority of the models wore fine mesh nets over their hair while presenting sheer gowns and tunics with floral accents and fringes. Armani heavily relied on rock grey, marine blue and beige to design the bias-cut skirts and shirts. For evening, gowns remained long and glamorous while shoes were high and glittery. The designer’s Emporio Armani line will be presented on September 26th. During the show, Armani also launched his new screen touch mobile phone in partnership with Samsung.

Milan Fashion Week: Gianfranco Ferré

Gianfranco Ferré’s womenswear Spring 2008 collection is the last one he designed before passing away last June and was travel and discovery inspired. Easy-to-wear pieces, yet very flattering to the woman’s figure, depicted Ferré’s unique and timeless vision of fashion. Light materials such as silk and loose fitting cotton dominated the show along with high wait and wide legs trousers. Models walked on the mirrored catwalk wearing thick-soled shoes matching the soft earth tones pieces presented.

Into- Milan's Fashion Week

Wow! I've nearly missed the updates for Milan's Fashion Week. I needed to have an emergency blog leave from Monday until yesterday. By the way, life must go on. It's better late than never, right?

So, I'll have some recap of Milan's fashion week...

Last September 23, British supermodel Naomi Campbell made a spectacular return on the catwalk by giving the Milan Fashion Week a big kick off. Dressed in an emerald-sequined swimsuit Naomi launched the “Miss Bikini LUXE” collection by sisters Alessandra and Francesca Piacentini.

P.S. Stay tuned with my upcoming posts regarding Milan's Fashion Week

Naked Anorexic Woman Billboard Shocked Milan

Last Sept. 25, a photograph of a naked anorexic woman appeared in Italian newspapers and on billboards to highlight the effects of the illness during Milan fashion week while promoting a fashion brand. Written above the photo of the woman, used to advertise fashion group Flash&Partners's clothing brand Nolita, are the words: "No Anorexia".

The picture was shot by the controversial Italian photographer Oliviero Toscani, who in 1992 photographed a man dying of AIDS for a campaign for clothing group Benetton.
