Coco Rocha sparkles in Venice

I absolutely love how the fashion industry for the last few years has really embraced whiter skin. I am Irish on Irish with a dab of German and Portuguese, but you would never guess I had anything in my blood line beyond Irish. It is hard for me to tan, and some people just don't understand how I could be so white. I grew up slathering on SPF 30 while my friends grew to a golden tan with tanning oils. I was always envious, that is until the tides of fashion opened its doors to all different skin types, celebrating variety and change. And so, I am glad to see fashion embracing white skin in all of its authenticity, not trying to be what it isn't! Coco Rocha is a beautiful example of just that:

That gold dress on her skin is just illuminating! But then again, I am pretty sure a great subtle gold works with all skin tones! Lovely!

Parisian Chic Street Style

I love how almost every Parisian woman seems to look like she has this perfectly imperfect artistic flare incorporated into her every day look!

A Parisian woman knows the power of the classic basics that will never go out of style...enter the leather jacket! And I love that her look is relatively clean, but the shirt has a tear. I wonder if her tear has a story, like, "Yah I was at a Rolling Stones concert and was crowd surfing when the band members saw me and brought me on stage. It wasnt until I was backstage that I realized I had tore my shirt. This little tear is a wonderful memory for me." Ahhh, how I like to day dream!!!

Parisian women know how to work with color, they know it is a weapon and are not afraid to use it!!! Love the pop of red and how it completely transforms her basic ensemble! And again enters the leather jacket! LOVE!

Play on fabric! Love her look!

Powerful lines, strong black color! Parisian woman seem to know that they can take on the world any time they want to!  I love how these pants meet her boots!

    Playful!

Effortlessly Chic! They look at the camera as if they are saying, "What this old thing? I dress like this all the time! Its really no big deal!"

Effortless hair, effortless make up. And her jewelry on her hand looks crazy amazing. Yet, she still has an effortless air about her!

I absolutely LOVE this womans style, so much so that I believe I have already posted this picture in my blog before, but I dont care, her style is perfection!!! Love the hair, love the jacket, love the shoes!!! LOVE!

Paris is such an inspiring place for me and the woman are one of the main reasons. They know how to keep the basics amazing enough so that anything else becomes just perfect icing on the pastrie! (get it, not cake but pastrie?!?!) Im a dork I know : )

Shenani-Sunday!

Hello my followers and readers from around the world. I hope this finds you happy and healthy today! I wanted to theme today's Shenani-entry for a trend that has been very hot and cold through many years, but that can be timeless in my opinion when done correctly. Why? Because it just happens to be in vogue at the moment: WHITE... White lace, white hair, white shoes (especially after labor day), the perfect white tee, white jeans, white dresses, shall I go on? I think not... I will just explore this trend with pictures to help make your Sunday a little more beautiful and filled with lovely fashion. Thank you for your support, it means the world to me! Have a lovely Sunday!

Gettin' Edgy

    photo from: http://intothegloss.com
I seriously shaved my head like this back in the 90's. I have to say that it was a very nice summer time style! But it was terrible to grow out when I didn't want it anymore. I do not suggest doing this unless you are ready to cut your hair short when you are going to grow it out, terrible awkward phase. But all and all, super fun and brave! Love how it ads a rocker edge to any look, and can also be easily hidden in more professional circumstances. But, Brave! Brave! Brave!

Glow in the dark Bohemian Funk

    photo from: coolechicstylefashion.blogspot.com
This photo shoot has a little Tim Burton on it if you ask me...or maybe that's just because I visited the Tim Burton exhibit at the Los Angeles Museum just recently with my Mateo. I love the coloring in this spread, everything seems to be illuminated in a black light fashion. Its a collage of  color and funky pieces with vintage shapes. This is what I call pure visual entertainment!!! Hope you all are having a wonderful day today!

Effortlessly Chic Manly Man

There is something about Johnny Depp that is so styled and yet he keeps his look so very natural and easy. He always seems to look like he threw on something that he keeps on the floor and makes it look modern. It is my personal observation (correct me if I am wrong), but his style really has not changed all that much in these past 8-10 years. Yes, he tries different things and experiments with off the cusp fashion items, but all and all, I think he has always had a certain gypsy/bohemian flair to his look. And I for one adore it! He can do no wrong; when he tries on something so very wrong, somehow it just turns out to be....right.

Dragon Fruit

I found this picture reading a blog that I recently found, check it out: http://ilovehelsinki.com
I love this picture because this is Dragon Fruit that I literally became obsessed with when I was in Cambodia with my sweetheart and his family! I think I ate it just about every morning for breakfast. It has kind of a watermelon taste to it and the texture is very similar too. If you ever get the chance to have some, don't miss out! I miss it so much!

Vacation and fun and sunny days...here I come!

Today was my last day at work for just over a week. Lets just say that I am ready to get some sun, to read my book I have been trying to finish forever and spend some time with my honey on the beach. I've been working on:Change Your Brain, Change Your Life: The Breakthrough Program for Conquering Anxiety, Depression, Obsessiveness, Anger, and ImpulsivenessWhich is a REALLY good book by the way if you are into Biopsychology or Psychopharmacology, which I totally nerd out on!!!
But tonight in my sleep when I dream of the days to come it might look a little something like this:

P.S. I have a post or two coming soon that you will love! I visited my favorite Vintage/Antique shop this morning and talked with some of the gals who run the place, and meet the owner. Stay tuned...Good stuff!

Italian Vogue embraces its curves

Vogue dedicated its June issue to plus sized models, or curvy models. (Please forgive me as I know the terminology is being questioned and what is appropriate is currently being redefined. Thanks to Queen Latifa standing up and questioning the norm. Which I always encourage.)
I cant help but notice this pleasant acceptance of more curvacious women that is slowly leaking itself into the fashion industry and spreading like wild fire. Almost to the point now where if you have something against more curvy models, that this judgement reflects badly upon you.
We all know that Beth Ditto was welcomed to sing and rock the runway at Jean Paul Gaultier's Spring/Summer show. And Vogue's Italian Editor, Franca Sozzani, has been a major advocate in helping
to spread this acceptance within the fashion industry. She is using
her powers for good in more ways than one... She started an online
column called Curvy and has been a public figure in battling the
acceptance of models being anorexic or too thin.
I don't know about you, but I sincerely think that these women
exude a certain sensuality and femininity that thin models simply are not capable of. They wear the clothes, the clothes don't wear them...

    Love it!

They Key to Happiness is to choose Happiness!

Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a day to honor those who have served in the military, but mostly those who have passed away in the line of duty! My father served in Vietnam, and I have many friends and other family members who have served their time. In fact, my Grandmothers brother was a prisoner of war and was never found. And so...today I honor those who faced their worst fears to fight for the rights of every American.
My hope is that someday we are able to become a more peaceful world, a more globalized society and that we can learn to understand how we are all equals and integrated as human beings....which would mean that peace would no longer have such a price on it! But for today...let us say simply: THANK YOU!

I hope you have a Holiday filled with peace, surrounded by the ones you love. Oh, cute clothes and good food wouldn't hurt either...icing on the cake, right?!?!

Wedding details

When a woman plans that special day where she is uniting with the one she loves in front of...others she loves, she wants to look as wonderful as she feels. And while on my wedding day I hope to be able to master this balancing act between looking and feeling, with just my happy glow...In reality, I know that it will be all in the details. I will want to look and feel my very best, on one of the happiest days of my life. Here are two Vintage looks I adore!
    photo from: http://zsazsabellagio.blogspot.com/
I absolutely LOVE the head piece she is wearing! Then to top it off with imperfect hair, is just lovely!
    photo from: http://zsazsabellagio.blogspot.com/
The back of this dress is do die for! OMG! How elegant and yet sexy with a vintage feel to it! Per-fec-tion!

After all...when it comes to looking the most beautiful you have ever looked in your whole entire life, ever, on this planet. On the day you celebrate love itself....why not stick with what you love!

And now I just HAVE to post a picture of Nicole Richie on her wedding day. Why? Because her dress was FABULOUS! And she looked so happy!
