An Intimate moment with Donatella and the DNA of Versace

Oscar De La Renta Charm

Oscar is adorable in this video! He tells us a little about his design history and humble beginnings. But mostly he speaks about what inspires him and how his goal is to empower women, you can tell this brings to him so much joy that he speaks with a smile on his face the entire time (adorable). His sense of fulfillment with his profession and his pure inspiration radiates in his smirk almost as if he is going to stop and burst into laughter while trapsing through his memories. Watch Oscar De La Renta tell us about the power of femininity, and womens sense of individuality. He seems to be so very aware of how this power that women have is changing the world in monumental ways. "Never in history has a woman been in more control of her destiny than she is now." -Oscar

Designer Marios Schwab Exits Halston, Too!

I don't know what the heck is going on behind the scenes at the Halston design house, but what a mess! The word is that Sarah Jessica Parker and Harvey Weinstein have both parted from the house in the last 48 hours and now Designer Marios Schwab is following them out the door. Coco Perez reported that Marios was informed his contract as designer would not be renewed and he left, simply waled out. It looks like the 2012 collections will not be made, which word is...they have already been ordered by different boutiques and stores for upcoming sale. Something is awry and it makes me wonder...is the design house going to come crashing to the ground without these amazing fashion moguls their to hold it up? Read the story on cocoperez.com:

The most expensive backpack I have EVER seen!

Shenani-Sunday!

Hello Followers! I hope this finds you lovely, healthy and happy on this amazing Sunday! I wanted to take a moment to discuss my blog credo as I think it may possibly be a very unique approach to fashion. My focus is to inspire fashion, and to attempt to be fashion as much as I can while at the same time letting the judgement of it all fade into the darkness a little bit. It is mostly in regards to judgement that I would like this blog to stand apart. In the fashion industry there are so many do's and dont's that it is my belief that we can sometimes get out of hand and forget that we are talking about a person that has feelings whether we are talking about the clothes on them or how they look! Fashion is art to me and truly at the end of the day should not be taken too serious, but talking badly about others and putting them down should be. I like to imagine that I am letting my inner child pick out what I am going to wear for the day. Because that was when fashion was the most fun for me! When it had no limits or rules. And so, today, on this lovely Sunday I would like to inspire you to allow your inner child, let your emotions drive your fashion decisions. Let fashion be fun and let judgement fall away, it is unnecessary. (with only one exception of showing too much skin or wearing things that are WAY too small, that is just socially inappropriate, especially in front of children!)
Here are some Shenani-Sunday pictures, they are pictures for no real reason other than to help make your day a little more inspired and Shenani-filled! XOXO

I adore fashion photo's like this. Something about a picture from behind the model seems to create such an intimate feeling in such an incredible high fashion moment that is so very public!

More Stella for your Resort Pleasures

Stella McCartney Resort 2012

    photo from: coolechicstylefashion.blogspot.com

I absolutely LOVE this one piece emsemble. There is

something completely geeky about it; the design is almost

tourist hawaiian shirt style, the fit is loose, the collar is

high. Everything about this screams geek, and yet there is

something so very chic about it! That is what I love about

Stella, she can make the lines that you are used to look

somehow so very new without looking too bland or too

wild. She finds such a wonderful balance in her designs

and her colors are always spot on! I

would of loved to of had something like this for my

vacation, I would have worn it every day! Give me some

wedges, some winged eye liner and a simple

    clutch....DONE!

Yves Saint Laurent Quote

Thierry Mugler show with Lady GaGa

A Fashion Destraction

While I am sitting at home and supposed to be completing my paperwork from my day of counseling, I am instead drinking a glass of red wine and reading fashion magazines while watching sex and the city. UUUGGGGHHHH! All these should's run through my head: I should have gone to the river for a walk. I should have cleaned the apartment. I should have done laundry. I should have completed the paperwork I needed to do, instead of leaving it for later. I should have read my book that I need to finish for my upcoming book club meeting. I should have called my friend to see how she is doing.....
But here I am shoulding all over myself at the end of the day, I am now on my second glass of red wine and have not left my couch yet. I guess the "should's" are proving not to be very motivational! I guess I needed this break! I cant help but feel like I need a week of this, but for now...tonight will have to do. And, in case you need a night to slack off and enjoy some fashion too...here is some visual entertainment. I hope these pictures provide some....temporary relief. And what better to provide some temporary relief, than the one fashion item that physically creates anything but?!?! HEELS!

Carolina Glamorous!

Gucci my heart...

I have to say that there is something about the clean lines of a suit that make me feel powerful. (See bottom right picture I am referring to). Strong lines and powerful colors can create an ensemble that, when accessorized appropriately, can make you feel like you can take on the world! (Which I would never try for I would most likely end up like Pinky and the Brain). Clothing definitely creates a feeling for me, call me overly sensitive or what you will, but its whats true for me : ) And I like to use these powers for good! I know that when I am feeling down, I have to figure out what kind of feeling I can create that will lift my mood, or bring me the strength that I need to make it through my moment, or my day.
There is something about this suit from Gucci that is simply memorizing to me. I know, it probably looks like any other women's suit that you have seen, same lines, same colors...blah. blah. blah. But I think it is the pop or color with the hat and the flower broach that bring a spark to this look. Along with the VERY tailored accessories. I can help but LOVE the combination of the shinny leather gloves and the tailored clutch!
Suits such as this one are so completely transitional that you can dress them up and keep the lines clean, or change the look entirely! If you add a colorful blouse that is lose, unbutton the jacket, loose the belt and all the other accessories and let the hair fly around a little unkempt...VOI--LAH! You have an instantly more relaxed feeling to this suit.
Another thing that you could do with this suit is wear just a plain t-shirt underneath to simplify it. Or you could wrap a scarf around your neckline and torso like a wrapped dress top under the jacket. With a plain scarf, this would most likely make for a very German military type of feel that can be very chic. A flowered scarf would look great with curly hair and some looped earrings.
I think you get my jest in my long winded explanation about why I love suits like this:
Gucci, Fall 2011 photo from: http://ingridsmoteblogg.blogspot.com
I also cant help but love the hemlines that pay tribute to the 1940's pin up look (see military trench in top middle picture). I think it can be a very gentle nod to a feminine silhouette when the hemline of a jacket, skirt or dress comes down a little further from the knee than usual. It can also make for a very elongating effect. Its my favorite hemline on my physique anyway : )

John Galliano is officially unemployed! Ouch!

First Dior and now his very own label!!!! The board for the John Galliano House decided to let him go after his video recorded drunken, antisemitic rant! From the top to the bottom, that is a long way to fall.
Mr. Galliano is creatively one of my favorite designers, so it is very sad to see this happen! But I have to admit at the same time that I am happy to see that there is a public backlash for this kind of behavior. What kind of a message would it send if he merely received a slap on the back of his hand?!?! Attention is being payed in the fashion world and I am glad it is acknowledging the seriousness of this kind of "conversation" in the 21st century.

Beijing's Burberry Delight

Cate Blanchett in Givenchy Haute Couture.

I don't watch awards ceremonies but this year I saw a picture of Cate Blanchett, and I cannot let this fashion moment pass by without acknowledgment!
Others may have their opinions about Cate's fashion choice for the 2011 Oscars, but I personally think she was one of the best dressed women for the awards this year! This Givenchy Couture gown is absolutely breathtaking! It has bead work that is placed in such a modern way and yet there is something very vintage about it.The silhouette is perfection with the angled shoulders and cinched waist...GASP! Then the color combination is brave and yet absolutely perfect in coordination! Givenchy you have don't it again!
