Secret Hand Signals

I've always been fascinated by furtive glances and secret hand signals, like in mafia movies or baseball games. So this post by Michael was right up my alley: Sherman Billingsley, who ran the Stork Club, a famous Manhattan night club, from 1929 to 1965, would make secret hand signals to his assistants. Check them out...

(In the photo above, Billingsley spreads five fingers out on his left hand, which means the music is too loud.)
Palm up on table=“Bring a bottle of champagne."
Pointing down="Bring a round of drinks."
    Hand to nose=“Not important people."
Hands interlocked with thumb up="Get them out & don’t let them in again."

Isn't that awesome? See more on A Continuous Lean...
