When it comes to Harlequin Mills and Boons, I am a Maureen Child super duper fan. And now, I consider myself as a Mindi Neff fan. And I've only read one of her books! (She's) They're the One caught my attention at BookSale because of its teaser. I've read lots of novels where the woman was pregnant and another man (not the baby's father) takes the responsibility. But this story got me so amazed. I cried. I laughed. I fell inlove with the hero. Got irritated with the heroine. Cried with the heroine and together, smiled at the happy ending.
I fell inlove with the hero Joseph Castillo from the moment I've read his dialogues. A sweet-mouthed gentleman. When he met the heroine, Briana Duvauelle--whom that time was undergoing the shock of the news that she was pregnant-- he already thought and stuck with the fact that they were meant together. Briana, feeling the sparks felt afraid. Well hello? She was pregnant with a baby she didn't know who the father was and then this handsome crown prince crashes in her life and telling her they belong together. And also--Oops. Have I told you Joseph Lorenzo Castillo was the crown prince of Valldoria and heir to their throne? Yes, he is! And Briana found that out after she had already slept with him.
I am really fascinated by how Joseph fought for Briana and offered her almost everything he could give. He was more than willing to do everything just to have her. Including accepting that baby in her stomach. Well, Bri actually thought Joseph would walk away and leave her when she told him she was pregnant and doesn't know who was the man responsible of the act. And yet, Joseph helped her find the man.
But she really can't remember anything about the man. Even her cousin Crystal helped her. Speaking of Crystal, she played a special part in the story. Crystal was actually trying to get pregnant. And when she knew she did, the two of them rushed to the doctor. They were both checked. And the results was... Crystal was fifteen weeks pregnant and Briana at six weeks. Both was stunned, of course. Because Briana was supposed to be much farther than Crystal. And it turned out that the results was switched. The clinic made a mistake in sending the results. The results Briana received was actually for Crystal. And she was six week pregnant. And six weeks ago, she met and made love with Joseph Castillo. She found out that Joseph was the father of her baby at the time when she shoed him away.
When she was about to find Joseph, she met a woman. Joseph's fiance. That time, Raquel, Joseph's fiance, was missing.
On the day of the wedding, Joseph was informed that his bride was found. And he was more than willing to fullfil his duty. Since Briana Duvaulle didn't want him, it was better to serve his country according to tradition. Walking down the aisle, regret enveloped him. He was sure he wanted Briana and only Briana. I'll write this scene. I'll shorten it though. My favorite...
"Joseph Lorenzo Castillo, crown prince of Valldoria," the priest began. "Do you come here of your own free will and do you take this woman to be your future queen?"
Joseph closed his eyes. He smelled raspberries.
"Your Highness?" the priest prompted.
He couldn't do it. Joseph shook his head. "I don't--"
"By heaven, you'd better!"
"Briana...? How...?"
"I heard you were missing a bride and I thought I'd stand in."
:) I so love it super much. Try reading it. And fall in love over and over again! :)
